ONLINE SALES CLOSE THURSDAY, OCT. 4 AT 5PM. WE WILL HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF DUCKS TO SELL AT THE AMERICAN TOBACCO CAMPUS ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, SUNDAY, OCT. 7TH BETWEEN 1P-3:30P.
We invite you to participate in the Great American Tobacco Duck Race on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1-5pm on the banks of the Ol' Bull River at American Tobacco in Downtown Durham. All proceeds from this purchase go to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
ABOUT THE INTER-FAITH FOOD SHUTTLE
At Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, we build people, jobs, and a hunger-free community. Our programs empower people to meet their own needs and grow a local food system that feeds everyone healthy, nutritious food. Our mission is to pioneer innovative, transformative solutions designed to end hunger in our community. We feed, teach, and grow across many different programs, spanning food distribution, nutrition education, job training, and urban agriculture. These programs range from the traditonal to the groundbreaking (literally) -- from grocery bag distribution to cooking & nutrition classes to Culinary JobTraining to teaching the next generation of farmers.
HOW TO BUY DUCKS
You can purchase one duck or as many as you want. On the day of the event the ducks will be simultaneously released to race swiftly down the Ol' Bull River.
There will be prizes at both the individual and corporate level. You don't have to be present to win. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place. There's also a prize for the "Best Decorated Duck". The biggest winners are the people and communities these charities support.
